Solving The Water Contamination Issue Proves Successful For Squaw Valley

The Squaw Valley Ski Resort has always been known for placing the safety and security of its visitors at the top of its list of priorities, which has proven to be true in recent weeks after a water contamination issue was identified quickly in the Upper Mountain region of the resort. The slopes have remained open across the mountain despite the fact Squaw Valley voluntarily shut down the water supply to Upper Mountain areas, such as Gold Coast and High Camp in a move that has been successful with no sickness or medical conditions being linked to contaminated water use at the resort.

 

Squaw Valley Public Relations Director Liesl Kenney has reported the contamination came after an inundation of water was seen following a major storm in the Lake Tahoe region, which pushed a large amount of bacteria into four isolated wells only serving parts of Upper Mountain. Alongside closing off the water supply from the affected wells, officials at Squaw Valley have made the decision to keep all restaurants in the affected areas closed to make sure visitors have no chance of being affected by the E.Coli and Coliform that was discovered soon after the rain event took place.

 

Squaw Valley appears to have gone above and beyond in its attempts to rectify the problems being faced in terms of water quality as the resort self reported the problem to officials at Placer County Environmental Health Department. Placer County officials are now working alongside independent water quality experts employed by Squaw Valley in a bid to speed the return of the water supply to its previous safe levels; Wesley Nicks of Placer County has revealed the water supply currently shows no E.Coli is present in three of the four affected wells and reduced levels of Coliform. The latest problems are being handled in a safe and mature manner by Squaw Valley Ski Resort Officials who are providing complimentary bottled water for its visitors skiing the affected regions of Upper Mountain.
