Doug Levitt explains many of the people he travels with on the bus where he interviews and talks to individuals choosing to ride to their destination by this form of public transport do not feel politicians in Washington D.C. have any understanding of the problems they face each day.
In the heartland of the U.S. the majority are looking to simply survive and use the bus for transportation as they have little option, the Greyhound services move between more than 2,000 destinations across the nation. Levitt explains the majority of people traveling by bus are still living in the same fashion they were when he began “The Greyhound Diaries” project in 2004; in terms of technology, the artist explains there are still very few laptops carried or used on buses by people using these services.
Although he travels extremely lightly over the course of his journeys that have taken in more than 120,000 miles over more than 13 years, Doug Levitt has taken his career in a new direction with the use of a YouTube Channel that shows his success as a singer-songwriter.
